Xbox 360 mods are so cool. Here are the things I did to mine.

* I have changed the LED light that powers the on button. It comes in standard green but I modded it to blue. It took some work (actually a whole evening) but we finished it. When my friends come over tommrow we'll show it to them.

* Added a 250gb hard drive. Yes thats right I can upload my own pictures, and content and I didn't have to go Xbox elite. I even have my entire music collection on there. This was actually surprisingly easy.

* I even made a PC power supply unit work for the xbox 360. This was a bit difficult but my friend Ron helped me out with this one-- Thanks Ron.

* I managed to add some extra buttons to the xbox 360 controller (it's a button on the back). This one took some soldering and I burnt myself -ouch.

In short Xbox 360 mods are cool, but you have to be careful. You could break your Xbox 360 doing something the wrong way. Also, if you modify or open your xbox in any way you have voided your warenty and connot get your Xbox 360 replaced.

Xbox 360 Faceplates

The Xbox 360 has a variety of faceplates you can choose from. Most of them are made to fit a kind of style or to have a look that will allow the Xbox 360 to blend in with it's environment. And then there are some made with designs that fit to particular Xbox 360 games. Faceplates are easy to remove and replace. Be careful, however, with how much pressure you apply. The power button and USB protective covers have a nasty tendency to catch on something and break. The USB protective cover isn't so bad, but when the power button goes, you have to get a whole new faceplate. That isn't much of a problem however, most faceplates run anywhere from ten to twenty dollars. Buying new faceplates is a great way to change up the style of your Xbox 360. It can give an impression of what style of games you like. I recommend buying faceplates made by Microsoft, because some of the off-brand products don't tend to hold up for more than two weeks. Although they are cheaper, you'll see them break on you for no reason sometimes. I have had power buttons fall off after only a few hours of putting an off-brand faceplate on my Xbox 360. I don't know this for fact, but I have heard that you can also have a custom faceplate commissioned, although I would think it would be expensive. You may want to search the net for that option.You could design a faceplate to match your entertainment center, cell-phone, or yourself.

The Xbox 360 has two types of controllers that can be used with the system. You can choose between the the wired, or the more preferred wireless. The wired offers you the comfort of never having to change or charge the battery. But the wireless offers you range, and keeps you from having to deal with messy wires. Always keep your controllers clean and put away so that wondering feet will not crush them. For the wired controller, try to keep your wires as untangled as possible and keep them wrapped around the controller when not in use. Also, when using the wired, remember, you can only have two wired controllers plugged in at the same time. For the wireless, I suggest buying the Play and Charge kits unless you want keep replacing batteries. Only charge your controllers when you're playing, because leaving them on the charge for too long will overheat and eventually ruin the battery. For both controllers, don't mash the buttons to hard, keep the joysticks pressed in any direction for too long, or, as common knowledge would suggest, do not drop the controllers. The controllers aren't what I would call fragile, but the equipment inside can get jostled easily. Other than that, the controllers don't need much maintenance. As I have said, I recommend the wireless, because they give the ability to get a little farther away, maybe to a more comfortable spot. And for Xbox Live they are keen, because you can get up and walk around with your headset, so you can go fix yourself a drink or get snack, and not miss the conversation. Controllers are an essential Xbox 360 accessory.

Well, with the next-gen consoles of gaming, there also comes all of the accessories associated with them. Ever since the first video game system, there has been additional add-ons to help improve the game experience and style. Now, with the Xbox 360, there is certainly a large amount of accessories out there that will give the player a lot more fun with his/her game time. Firstly, the one most important thing about the Xbox 360, besides the console itself, is memory. Without memory, there's no way to save your progress in the games you've played, and thus it's just a waste of time. You're going to need hard drives, or memory cards to get around this problem. The hard drives obviously have lots more memory available, compared to the memory cards. They come in a different array of sizes too, which is very nice. There are hard drives available in 20GB, and 120GB. The memory cards are smaller, at 64MB, and 512MB.

Once you have the necessary memory to start playing, you'll also need other things to help get you going. Of course, you need a controller, and with a controller comes the hassle of getting batteries. The Xbox 360 has a way around this though. You can either buy a corded controller, or the rechargeable battery pack. With this nifty accessory, you can simply charge your wireless controller, and get back to playing as soon as it's all finished. This definitely is better than batteries, and saves money in the long run.

When one thinks about Xbox 360, they probably also wonder about its Live features and online play. Well, there's plenty of accessories to make that a better experience as well. If you're one who likes to verbally chat to people via Xbox Live, then a headset, cordless or wireless, is perfect for you. Most Xbox packages already come with one, but if you don't have one, then it's highly recommended that you get one. If you don't want to use a headset, then you can always type messages as well. The Xbox 360 Messenger Kit was designed for exactly that. It's definitely not very practical in the heat of battle, but otherwise it's a nice accessory to have. This works great in shooter games where achieving an effortlessly high rate of fire can provide an extreme advantage over the competition.
